Ariana is a sewing teacher and pro cosplayer. She has been sewing since the age of 6 and learned from her grandmother who adored costuming and historical dress. Ariana’s motto is all bodies are good bodies! Learning to sew enables people to feel good in their bodies by having clothes that fit well and represent your personality!
Chantal is a professional costume designer and the owner of 1886. She has always had an obsession with the 19th century deep in her bones, and the curious melding of professional design/project management and historical costume has led her here.
She founded Costume On as part of 1886, a venue for education, events and historical costuming.
A performer, host, producer, and educator, Darby has been working burlesque stages since 2011. A trained historian, she finished her MA in 2018. Her thesis, Mixing the Business of Pleasure examined burlesque as labor in twentieth-century America, while her minor in public history emphasized curation. As a performer, Darby integrates the naughty playfulness and comedy that has historically been a part of burlesque with striptease to create modern narratives. Darby is an instructor at the BHoF’s School of Striptease.
The Modern Maker was created in 2013 when founder Mathew Gnagy wrote his first book about historical tailoring. As a life-long costumer and craftsman, with the backing of thousands of enthusiastic supporters on Kickstarter, he began a new journey. His professional career includes television and film work, teaching at Parsons School of Fashion for 5 years, managing the costume shop for the Stagebrush Children's Theatre in Arizona, the costume shop for the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, and most recently the New York City Ballet. Mathew always returns to his passion for historical clothing and teaching others how to make it.
Maegen is a professional costumer, long-time instructor/Dean for Costume College and proprietor of MSH Costumes which currently features specialty masks on Etsy. An expert patternmaker, costumer and instructor, she shared her love of parasols in a bonus class for Costume On 1 and is back again for a seminar on perfecting tailored collars. She is a member of the Costumers Guild West and frequently teaches for Costume College.
Emily has presented living history and textile programs for conferences, museums, historical societies and educational institution. Prior engagements include: the 1860s Civilian Celebration, the Communal Studies Association, the Herb Society of America's Great Lakes Gathering, the International Spy Museum, Heinz History Center, Manassas Museum System, Manassas National Battlefield, Petersburg National Battlefield, Fort Mill Ridge Foundation, the Battle of Secessionville, the Surratt Society, and many others. She currently serves as the Director of Musical Activities for the Catholic Chapel at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY.
Christopher received a BA in History of Art from the University of Cambridge in 2001, he took a post at the Royal Collection, first in the Royal Library and Print Room at Windsor Castle, followed by the Publications Office at St. James's Palace. In 2005, he completed his master's degree in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors at the University of London, and became an assistant curator in the ceramics and glass section at the Victoria & Albert Museum. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow in 2014, he rejoined the Royal Collection as a project curator and was appointed Curator of European Glass at the Corning Museum of Glass in 2016.
With needle and thread never far from hand, Anneliese is a seamstress, weaver, and living historian who honors her Chinese and American heritages through education and outreach. She is currently completing a degree at Kent State University with a dual concentration in costume construction and textiles. She also works as a historical interpreter and an assistant to the Interpretation Office at the Genesee Country Village & Museum.

Carrie has been sewing professional for 25+ years, and has lectured and taught throughout New England. She has been researching and reproducing historic costume since 1992, with a primary focus on 18th & 19th century methods and styles since 1999. Her clients have included reenactors, the Concord Museum, the historic Massachusetts estate Gore Place, Adams National Historical Park, and Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum.
After earning her master's degree from Wayne State University, Kristen began to reproduce historic jewelry and vend at events as The Victorian Needle. She has a large collection of original 19th century items, such as clothing, accessories & punch paper. In 2017 she formed The Citizen's Forum of the 1860s, a nonprofit conference that promotes research and educations about the 19th century.
She has taught high school English and Spanish for ten years, and lives in Michigan with her fiance and trained therapy dog.
Catherine read "Little House on the Prairie" at age 5 and has been obsessed with historic clothing ever since. She learned to sew at her mother's knee, and to embroider at her grandmother's. In high school, she discovered vintage dance, the Northern Renaissance Pleasure Faire and Dickens Fair. Catherine has taught for many years at Costume College and the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild (GBACG), and has served on the GBACG board of directors for over a decade.
Dahl Suicide is a burlesque performer, producer, and costume designer in Las Vegas. Dahl first began sewing in 5th grade as a hobby and has surrounded herself with all aspects of the burlesque scene and sparkle ever since. She is the owner of Fringe’ Burlesque company as well as performing in the company. She’s here to keep the history, art, and traditions of burlesque alive and well!
By day, LaToya is a journalist and podcast producer, by night & weekend she is a big fan of historical play. In the San Francisco Bay Area she occasionally teaches dance, including beginning swing, waltz & Irish country dance as a board member for East Bay Waltz and a staff member at Breakaway Swing. She portrays Sara Forbes Bonetta at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair where she is the president of the black affinity group. Her 7 years of costuming has resulted in 6 drawers full of her stash, and she is thus banned from any further fabric purchases for at least a year.
